Abstract

The cantilevered stator has the advantages of reducing weight and reducing axial length of highly loaded compressor. But the details of the hub leakage flow resulting from the clearance between the high-speed moving hub and the cantilevered stator hub are unclear. In this paper, the effect of different hub clearances on the performance and the leakage flow was analyzed through the numerical simulation. The numerical method was calibrated by the experiment. The results indicate that as the clearance increases, the total pressure loss increases nonlinearly. The peak blade loading near the hub increases first and then decreases. The location of it moves backwards. The leakage flow can be divided into three parts. The increasing clearance enlarges the circumferential and radial range of high turbulence kinetic energy area after 70% chord length.
